What is SiEUGreen

SAMPAS Holding, one of our partners in Turkey, have created a promotional video for the activities and showcases of the SiEUGreen Project, in order to disseminate it throughout Turkey and all over the world

How to cultivate with your neighbors: KIPOS3 Project in Thessaloniki (part 1)

In the context of SiEUGreen Project, we present KIPOS3, which is a neighborhood participato urban agriculture business model based in Thessaloniki, in Northern Greece. KIPOS3 consists a start-up initiative that supports community engagement and citizens’ co-ownership of the re-activation of the public space. The garden is run by the stewardship of the surrounding neighbourhood and aims to operate as a green infrastructure with ecological and social value, as a park, a “foodscape”, a hobby, and a meeting point, a stage for cultural activities, a landmark. Mrs Eleftheria Gavriilidou is an architect and landscape architect and is sharing with us her experience of her participation in the designing team of the initiative.

Aquaponics, fish and plants in the same system

An aquaponics’ construction consists of a plant unit and a fish unit in one system. The fish water runs into the plant unit, the fish is in the blue tanks and the water runs from there into the plants’ section. Researcer Siv Lene Gangenes Skar in NIBIO explains how it works. The video is from NIBIOs research facility in Landvik, in Grimstad municipality, Norway.

Aarhus Case Faellesgartneriet Drone Video 3

At this site over 100 people are farming. They come from all over Aarhus. One thing that they do have in common is the need of ground, space and facilities to grow. They also seek for the community which “Fζllesgartneriet” provides. At this site a solar driven toilet will be tested, as well, since there was not such a toilet in Fζllesgartneriet. At the same time the type of fertilizer that the toilet will provide will be examined.

Sanyuan farm Beijing

Video clip of Sanyuan farm, in Beijing, showing part of the project's showcase there. Because during its filming it was winter time in Beijing, there's not any vegetables in the urban mini-gardens.

Sanitation + Animation = Sanimation

NMBU students create a very interesting animated video on an innovative approach on Sanitation worldwide and how water based centralised systems can be transformed into more hygienic and civilised ones.

Water, food and waste in a local cycle

Save water and make biogas, compost and fertilizer on a local scale. The scientists who analyse this tecnology are professor Petter Jenssen and professor Arve Heistad from the Norwegian university of Life Science and support the SiEUGreen Project.

Professor Petter D Jenssen from the NMBU analyses how toilets can save lives

Professor Petter D Jenssen from the NMBU analyses how Toilets can save lives, because human waste spreads killer diseases and how flush toilets can drive to a zero waste, recycling model, for the creation of biogas and other by-products, e.g. fertilizer.

Transformation of Cicignon Park, Fredrikstad Norway

The video shows the Cicignon Park, in Fredrikstad Norway, after its giant green transformation will be completed. The maquette of the video has been prepared for the MIPIM Cannes conference 2018.

Commurban application in EUvsVirus hackathon

The COMMURBAN application, designed by our partner DRAXIS, is presented in the EUvsVirus hackathon, organized by the European Innovation Council.

The first greenhouse about aquaponics systems in Hatay

An introductory video about the aquaponic greenhouse was shot by the Mayor of Hatay( Asoss. prof Luftu Savaş) in order to introduce the Hatay Showcase Greenhouse, which has been completed, to the local people and the surrounding provinces.

The development of Aarhus showcase

The Arhus municipality creats “bridges” between the SiEUGreen project and its existing communities and activities by providing contacts, space for testing recycling solutions, facilitating for upgrading of greenhouses and gardens, making the project knowledge available to the public, and facilitating an event for the other showcases. All type of lands are being used, both private and public – empty building lots and “forgotten” parts of the city and even “abandoned” places, such as polluted areas are being used. 80% of the land involved in the project is public either available as public squares, parks, school yards, forests and beaches around the city and other open public areas either green like or grey.

Students' training in Hatay showcase

Video taken during the training attended by the students. The greenhouse hosted its first visitors to the 5th and 6th grade students of HATAY BİLSEM (Hatay Science and Art Center). Within the scope of TÜBİTAK 4004 Nature Education and Science Schools Support Program, our little guests were given theoretical plant growing training with the aquaponic system in order to support the activities of "research and study of sustainable environmental concepts", which is one of the activities of the "Ekokids for Sustainable Nature Journey" project carried out by Hatay BİLSEM; After the theoretical training, the application environment in the greenhouse was examined and the training day was completed by making a demo sample that our students can apply at home with their own means.

First Plant Harvest in Hatay Vitrin Greenhouse

Plant planting was carried out for the first trial of the system inside the greenhouse. When the plants grown in the greenhouse were harvested for the first time, a promotional video was shot by the Mayor of Hatay Municipality, in which the production process was explained, in order to increase the awareness and dissemination of the greenhouse.

Hatay Vitrin made its second plant harvest

Thanks to our cooperation with China and Europe, we are breaking new ground in Turkey. We made our second harvest in our greenhouse called "Hatay Vitrini", where we grow plants with the aquaponic system. We have grown and harvested our basil, which can be eaten both as a fresh vegetable and consumed as a dried spice, from the aquaponic greenhouse. We distributed our products to our disadvantaged citizens.

Campus Ås Showcase and the Greenergy system

Campus Ås was selected as an alternative location to the Fredrikstad showcase as the latter was omitted due to delays in the construction process. Campus Ås houses Norway's largest interdisciplinary academic environment in the life sciences. A full scale “Greenergy” system, similar to the one planned in Fredrikstad, is now under construction in the Campus Ås showcase. The Showcase Campus Ås has the same ambitions as the showcase in Cicignon Park – Fredrikstad: to demonstrate that an innovative combination of known and emerging technologies, actions and planning can contribute to achieve a resilient, climate, environment and human friendly urban development.
